Follow-Up on Boy With Tumor

Here’s an update from MetroKidz on Christopher, the boy we prayed for at the end of Fusion on Sunday night.

Thanks to everyone who prayed earnestly for Christopher and his family. He had same-day surgery on Monday to remove a mass which the physicians thought was cancer. Once they operated, they were able to determine that it is not cancer and Christopher will recover (with a few days off from school)!

Please continue to pray that through this situation, his whole family would come to know Christ as their personal Saviour. What a great week to give thanks for this amazing miracle From God alone!

Urbana ’09 Missions Conference

Urbana ’09, the missions-oriented conference for students is approaching fast and Grace is looking for four drivers to help get our students to St. Louis.  The plan is to have two drivers per van.

From the Urbana09.org website:

At Urbana 09 you’ll learn about critical global issues from dynamic teachers, worship with thousands in one of the most diverse gatherings in North America, and be challenged by missional students and recent graduates who testify to God’s faithfulness to the ends of the earth.
Since 1946 InterVarsity has been providing a place for college students to see, hear, and respond to God’s global mission at Urbana conferences. There are many ways you could spend five days of your winter break. If you want to be challenged by the spiritual and physical needs of the world, and get connected to opportunities to partner in what God is doing around the world, sign up for Urbana 09. We hope to see you there!
Drivers of the church van must be 25 or older and will have their conference and lodging expenses paid for by the church.  If you’re interested in being a driver, please e-mail Susan Watson at pwatson71@gmail.com.

We Are Kenya Land Update

Jeromy Smith (We Are Kenya) writes:

Due to the speed at which things sometimes move in Africa, the deal hasn’t settled as quickly as we would like.  However, we received an excellent update on the land today!!! The final deposit has been withdrawn– they have had to withdraw the 200,000 shillings in 5 installments on 5 different days, due to the security rules of ATM’s there.

The elders of Samuel’s church are meeting with the landowners on Saturday to finalize everything and sign the contract. Please pray that it goes through with no further delays. If it does, best-case scenario we could have some of the kids with no home moved in by mid-March.
