Help Portrait – December 4th

Help Portrait - December 4, 2010Charm City Church of Baltimore is hosting Help Portrait again this year. Help Portrait is a global movement of photographers who use their time, gear, and expertise to provide portraits to those in need.

At Charm City Church in inner-city Baltimore, professional (and well equipped hobbyist) photographers will take quality photos and editors will perform rudimentary touch-ups (training provided) and print the pictures. We would like to have a makeup artist on hand. A small army of hosts will be needed to greet, direct, feed, and converse with the guests. The coordinators suspect ~30 volunteers will be needed in addition to the photographers.

Where might you fit in?

We need greeters and hosts, food preparers and servers, and a handful of people just to talk to the guests, if that is your thing. In addition, if you have a laptop, you can be a photo editor. Are you a photographer? A makeup artist? If you are interested in participating, please email missions@fusionfellowship.org.

Mike Stog has put together a flier for us. A copy of Mike’s flier can be found here.

Spring Food Bank Challenge

The Fusion Kidz Garden is coordinating a Spring Food Bank challenge for Fusion Fellowship Church.  We will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to the Food Pantry at Charm City Church.  This is the time of year when the shelves start to get bare and people go without food.  We have been teaching the kids about the gifts God gives to us and that we should share those gifts with others.  We have been blessed with the ability to feed our families and now it’s time for us to share that gift with others.  Please join us in helping our children share the gifts that have been given to them.  We will be collecting food each Sunday in May and the food will be given to Charm City Church the first week in June.  If you have any questions please see Katy, Clare, or Amy, or email us at kids@fusionfellowship.org.

MetroKidz Needs Your Help This Christmas!

Picture 3Are you looking for some ways that you can serve this holiday season? MetroKidz is looking for a few good volunteers. Maybe you can’t make a weekly commitment, maybe you’re not comfortable traveling into Baltimore or maybe you’d just like to check us out and see what we’re all about?  If that’s the case there are many way to get involved with us this month!

Ways you can serve this month:

  • December 12th: 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Help Portrait, do you love photography, mingling with people or baking? If so do we have an opportunity for you? We’re hosting a photo event to top all photo events, a few local photographers and make-up artists are giving up their time to serve the community. They’ll be taking photos and hanging out for a few hours. We need some people who are willing to come and mingle, help organize people, set-up and tear down and help serve cookies and hot chocolate. Not a people person, never fear, we also need volunteers to bake cookies, and donate hot chocolate for this event.
  • christmasgiftsDecember 10th/14th (tenative): We need a few good wrappers, to help wrap at least 500 gifts. We’ll be wrapping gifts and sorting them so they can be handed out to the hundreds of children we’ll reach at our Annual Operation Christmas Kidz party on December 16th! We also need wrapping paper and tape donations!
  • December 15th: MetroTeenz Christmas Party we’ll be celebrating Christmas with our teenagers this night, come hang out with some of the coolest kids on the block! Pastor Mike will be sharing with the teenagers, we’ll also serve them some Christmas Goodies and they’ll each leave with a gift. Not only do we need people to come love on some kids, we also need baked goodies, candy canes and hot chocolate for this event.
  • guitarsantaDecember 16th: Operation Christmas Kidz annual Christmas Party! This is a night where hundreds (literally!) of kids join us to Celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ mail man (Santa) pays a visit, the Christmas Story is shared and the kids are entertained by Pastor Mike. This night we also serve Christmas Goodies to the kids, and each child leaves with a gift. We’re looking for some awesome servants who want to come love on some kids, corral the crowds or help serve snacks! If you can’t make it, please consider donating some cookies or candy!

If you’re interested in any or all of these events please contact Colleen Smith by email colleen@metrokidzbaltimore.org or at FusionCP

Follow-Up on Boy With Tumor

Here’s an update from MetroKidz on Christopher, the boy we prayed for at the end of Fusion on Sunday night.

Thanks to everyone who prayed earnestly for Christopher and his family. He had same-day surgery on Monday to remove a mass which the physicians thought was cancer. Once they operated, they were able to determine that it is not cancer and Christopher will recover (with a few days off from school)!

Please continue to pray that through this situation, his whole family would come to know Christ as their personal Saviour. What a great week to give thanks for this amazing miracle From God alone!
