Theme of the Summer: God is Faithful

Matthew 6:9-13 & Romands 12:16

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

Dear *|FNAME|*,

It was so nice to see everyone back at the Sheraton. The pool party with Baptisms and Dedications was a wonderful event and we hope your family enjoyed it, despite the rain.

In the Preschool class the kids are continuing to learn about David and King Saul. The kids are learning about turning to God and their parents when they scared.

In PreK & Elementary the kids learned about Issac and Abimelech making peace. They continued learning about being peacemakers by wearing the shoes of peace. Talk to your child about how they can be a peacemaker with friends and family.

Christmas in July – Update

OCC_Pack 2Thank you to everyone who has already brought in donations for OCC. We will have another collection in September so watch out for some great back to school sales to stock up on supplies to help make boxes.

Last year we received a letter back from one of the children who received a box. She was overjoyed to get supplies to use in her classroom. Toys and games as well and toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap are also wonderful gifts for these children. The plastic shoeboxes you can find at stores are great not only for shipping the items in but serve as an extra gift allowing the family something to use for storage in their house. Thank you again for the support you’ve already shown. We look forward to working together to hit out goal of 45 boxes this year.

Fall Curriculum

The Kids Garden is stepping out and planning on writing their own curriculum for the Fall. We hope to develop something that is Bible based, engages the children, and is easy for our volunteers. We have some ideas and themes but would love for anyone who has ideas about curriculum or activities in the classroom to join us for a planning meeting on the 8th of August at The Sheraton. This will be a brainstorming meeting starting at 9am. Lunch will be provided and we hope to wrap things up around 2pm. Childcare is not provided but breastfeeding infants are welcome. If you have any questions or dietary needs for lunch please talk to Katy Linda.

Watering Can: Create a Story

The preschool class is begining to wrap up the story of David and King Saul and will learn how in the end they made up.  The Pre-K and Elem class have heard two stories about being resolving their differences.  Help your kids to create their own story about some friends who fight and then make up.  Here are some questions you could use to create the story or make up your own:

  • What are our two friends’ names?
  • What were they doing before they got mad?
  • What happened to make them mad?
  • Why did they each think they were right?
  • Which friend decided to be a peacemaker?
  • How did they make peace?
  • What happened after they made peace?
  • What did they learn from their fight?

Memory Verses: New Verses

Preschool: “Give us today the food we need” Matthew 6:11

Pre-K & Elem: “Live in harmony.” Romans 12:16

Theme of the Summer: God is Faithful

Matthew 6:9-13 & Ephesians 6:10-18

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

We hope you all enjoyed the weather last week and some of the cooler temperatures this weekend.  Please read below to get more information about our current outreach program collecting items for Operation Christmas Child as well as some location changes for the rest of July.

In the Preschool class the kids learned about Paul and Silas teaching other people about God.  They made megaphones to help them praise God and make their voices louder to share stories about God with other people.

In PreK & Elementary the kids heard the story about Abraham and how he wore the breastplate of righteousness in trusting God and waiting.  God promised Abraham he’d have more grandchildren than stars in the sky, but Abraham had to be patient and trust God to follow through on His promises.  The kids talked about patience and keeping promises in their own lives.

Christmas in July

It’s time to prepare for Operation Christmas Child! Before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is upon us, we are getting a head start on helping others! The Fusion Kidz Garden will be collecting plastic shoe boxes, hard candy, school supplies, tooth brushes & toothpaste, bars of soap, wash cloths, small toys, playing cards, balls, craft supplies, small stuffed animals, and other appropriate toys/health care items during the month of July to jump start our OCC project. The collection bin will be available in the Kidz Garden area of the lobby. If you have any questions please see Tanya Curtis or Clare Davis.

Watering Can: Patience and Promises

Abraham, Paul, and Silas all had to practice patience in waiting for God to fulfill His promises to them. Paul and Silas trusted God and used their faith in Him while in jail to teach other people about God. Abraham knew God said he’d have many grandchildren but he didn’t know how it would happen. He had to be patient and trust in God.

Butterflies are a beautiful example of patience and promises. They spend a long time as a caterpillar waiting patiently for their time to become a butterfly, but it isn’t easy. They have to work hard spinning a cocoon and then spend more time inside the cocoon transforming into a butterfly. After all that waiting they have to work hard one more time to break free of the cocoon. But it’s the struggle to get free that finishes their change.

Take a walk with your children and try to find caterpillars or butterflies. Talk about the different stages they go through, the patience and hard work they have to put in, and the final promise of becoming a butterfly. You can also draw pictures of butterflies with crayons, markers, yarn, tissue paper, and many other things you can find around your house.

Matthew 6:9-13 & Ephesians 6:10-18

This week the preschool group learned about the freedom we have as Christians and as Americans.  They discussed 2 Corinthians 3:17 – Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  We can thank God for our freedom in Him and our freedom as Americans to worship Him.

Watering Can: Freedom

As Americans we have the freedom to worship God, and as Christians we are free from the curse of sin.  The Bible tells us that ‘the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’  Talk to your children about what it means to be free.  Ask them why they are thankful for their freedom, and discuss the freedoms that we have.  Pray for those who do not have the same freedom that we do

Dear *|FNAME|*,

This week the kids continued learning about how God is faithful through prayer and His armor. The preschool group continued the story of Paul and Silas in jail. The PreK and Elementary classes heard about how Pharisees did not wear the body armor of Righteousness.

In the preschool class the children learned about praising God when he helps us. Paul & Silas were still in jail when there was an earthquake and their chains broke free. They praised God for helping them.

The Pharisees were supposed to teach people to love God, but instead they made up rules for people to follow that made them look good. Jesus got very angry at the Pharisees because they weren’t making right choices in teaching people to love God. The kids talked about the kind of right choices they can make at home and in situations with friends.

Family Worship July 4th

On Sunday July 4th we will have family worship during opening worship. We invite all families to bring all of their children in for worship so you can share the experience as a family. After opening worship the infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms will open. We invite the children in the PreK and Elementary classes to stay with their families during service and spend time learning about God in “Big Church.”

Watering Can: Making Choices

While in jail Paul and Silas made the right choice to keep their faith in God and praise him. The Pharisees did not make the right choices in teaching people how to love God.

Using paper plates, sticks, yarn, googly eyes, markers, and other supplies you might have at home draw faces on two plates. Make one a happy face and the other a sad face. Glue the plates together with the stick in the middle so you can turn the plate to either show a happy or sad face. Talk about different situations your children might encounter and ask them how they would feel. Then talk about what the right choice and the wrong choice would be in those situations.

For example – You break your sibling’s toy (you would feel sad) Right choice – apologize and try to help fix it. Wrong choice: Hide it or lie that you didn’t do it. Another one could be – Someone does something nice for you (you would feel happy) Right choice – Say thank you think of something nice you can do for them or someone else. Wrong choice – Don’t say thank you and complain if it’s not perfect or brag about what happened.

Theme of the Summer: God is Faithful

Matthew 6:9-13 & Ephesians 6:10-18

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

This week the kids continued learning about how God is faithful through prayer and His armor.  The preschool group continued the story of Paul and Silas in jail.  The PreK and Elementary classes heard about Lydia accepting the truth about Jesus from Paul

In the preschool class the children learned about praising God no matter what.  Paul & Silas were not in a place where they wanted to be, but they still praised God. God is faithful, so we praise him for his power. (Acts 16:16-34)

There was a man named Paul who lived right after the time Jesus was on Earth.  Paul loved Jesus so much that he went all over the world telling people the truth about Jesus.  Paul traveled to a city called Phillippi and went to a prayer meeting by the river.  There were a lot of women there, and Paul told them the truth about Jesus.  There was one woman named Lydia, who sold purple cloth.  She listened very carefully to Paul, and she believed what he said about Jesus.  She wanted to wear the belt of truth.  She believed that Paul told her the truth when he said Jesus is God’s Son.  After she became Christian, she obeyed God’s truth.  She believed God’s truth and wanted to show other people that she believed in God.  God is faithful, so we know His truth. (Acts 16:11-15)

Watering Can: Cloth and Chains

Cut some construction paper into 1 inch strips.  Use many different colors but make sure you have some purple.  Weave the strips together to create a cloth.  Purple cloth was reserved for only important people.  If Lydia had purple cloth it meant she would be around important people and she could share the truth about Jesus with them.  Think about people you can share the truth about Jesus with.

Use some of the other strips to make chains like Paul and Silas wore in jail.  On each one write something you can be thankful for or praise God for.  Each day take off one link of the chain and praise God as a family for what is written on the link.

Theme of the Week:

God is Faithful

Matthew 6:9-13 & Ephesians 6:10-18

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

Dear *|FNAME|*,

This week the kids continued learning about how God is faithful through prayer and His armor.  Both groups learned that no matter what we should listen to God and praise Him for being faithful.

In the preschool class the children learned about praising God no matter what.  Paul & Silas were not in a place where they wanted to be, but they still praised God. God is faithful, so we praise him for his power.  (Acts 16:16-34)

In the PreK and elementary class the kids heard the story of when King Saul took off his Belt of Truth.  Saul was king of Israel and some bad people called the Amalekites lived nearby.  God gave Saul a very special job to do.  Because the Amalekites were so bad, God told Saul to tear down their city and get rid of everything.  Saul went to the city of Amalekites and tore down most of it, but he kept some of the best things for himself.  He also started telling people how great he was instead of how great God is.  Because Saul didn’t stand strong in God’s power, God said he wouldn’t help Saul be a good king anymore.  Saul took off his belt of truth, so God chose someone else to be king. God is faithful, so we know His truth. (1 Samuel 15)

Get Your Serve On

It’s time for the 4th Annual School’s Out MetroKidz Community Block Party! The event will take place on Saturday June 19th from 11-4 p.m. (set-up begins at 9:15 a.m.).

If you’re interested in how you can be involved with this event, whether it’s from serving the actual day of the event, to donating something or praying from behind the scenes, please contact Colleen Smith (colleen@metrokidzbaltimore.org) or (443) 874-2085.

Check out the Fusion website for more information and directions.

Watering Can: In God We Trust

Paul and Silas trusted God even though they were in jail.  King Saul trusted God when He told Saul to tear down the Amalekites city.  It is important that we remember to trust God every day.

Get beads from the craft store in colors and with letters.  Make a bracelet that says “In God We Trust”  to help you remember to trust God every day.
