Theme of the Summer: God is Faithful

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

We’re wrapping up our summer curriculum and getting excited to start our new fall curriculum.

This week the kids will review the main points from this summer and enjoy some games and community building activities before we start our new curriculum next week.

Operation Christmas Child – Donation Time Again

OCC_Pack 2We began our second round of donation collection on the 12th of September.  Please begin collecting items such as: crayons, stickers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, socks, small toys, colored pencils, hard candy, and other items for the shoe boxes.

We’d love to use all plastic shoe boxes this year because the familes can then use those boxes to store food and other items at their houses.  If you’d be willing to donate plastice shoe boxes that would be wonderful.  The cost of shipping for each box is $7.  To reach our goal of 45 boxes we’ll need $315.

We will collect items through the end of September and the month of October.  Our packing party is tentatively schedule for Saturday October 30th.  We’ll have a great time with food and music while we pack up the boxes.  I hope your family can join us.

Come See What the Boz is All About

Our new curriculum for the year is based off of the popular children’s character Boz.  The Preschool class uses the popular character Boz to help kids learn more about God and His love for them.  Our older children will be reading directly out of the Bible and hearing the same stories as the younger kids, but on their level.  All the classes will continue to use stories, games, drama, songs, arts & crafts, and discussion to engage all of the children.

We invite all the families to come early to Fusion on the 26th of September to find out more about the changes in your child(ren)’s classroom.  We’ll have snacks and a video for the kids while the parents hear more about our vision for the ministry and the exciting things we have planned for the next year.

Memory Verses: New Verses

Preschool: “And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”—Matthew 6:12

Pre-K & Elem: “If you confess and believe that God Raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

Your little ones are like seeds, ready to grow and become beautiful plants. All they need is some good soil, water, and of course sun. Your family provides the soil for their little roots to take hold in. We hope to work with you to provide water, the Word of God, to nourish them and help them feel the light of the Son.

Happy Birthday

Classroom Move-Ups

This year our new curriculum will begin the first Sunday of October.  We will use the last Sunday of September to transition any kids who are moving into their new classroom and review some of the topics we covered last year.  For review the classrooms are divided as follows:

Infant: 6wks – walking, move up based on development

Toddler: walking – 2yrs old, move up the first Sunday of the month following their 2nd birthday

Preschool: 2yrs-4yrs, move up in the Fall if they are 4 before Oct 1st

Elementary: 4yrs-10yrs, graduate upon completion of 5th grade

These guidelines were developed with the children’s safety and capabilities in mind.  All classroom placements are at the discretion of the coordinator and exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.  No matter what classroom your child is in they will be taught by volunteers who love them and love Jesus.

Movie Night

Next Sunday we’ll host a movie night in the Elementary classroom.  The Preschool class will join them.  We’ll be showing the Veggie Tales Jonah story and possibly some other Veggie Tales depending on timing.  We’ll have popcorn as well as or normal snacks available for the kids.  Please let us know if your child cannot have popcorn.

On the 26th we’ll be reviewing what the kids learned over the summer and any Preschool kids who have turned 4 will move up to the Elementary class during service.

Matthew 6:9-13 & Romands 12:16

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

Summer has come to an end.  The hustle of getting kids ready for school and end of summer vacations means this is once again a two weeks for one special newsletter.

In the Preschool class the kids started the story of Jonah and how he didn’t obey God.  The kids have talked about the importance of obeying God and parents.  Obeying God is difficult at any age.  Talk about how the things God asks us to do are the right things for us to do.  It is important that we obey God.

In PreK & Elementary on the 22nd the kids heard the story of the rich man who asks about salvation and how he wouldn’t able to give up everything he had to follow Jesus.  On the 29th the story was Paul and Silas teaching the people in jail about Jesus and how the jailers were saved and baptized in the end.  Salvation is and very important subject to discuss with your children.  Spend some time reviewing these stories with your children to help them understand more.

Watering Can: I Will Follow Jesus

The theme for the summer has been about how God is faithful.  Both classes this week saw how if we have faith in God and trust him things will work out.  Jonah was saved by the fish and delivered to Nineveh and Paul and Silas got out of jail.

On a piece of construction paper or poster board write “I Will Follow Jesus”.  Then trace your child’s foot.  Add pictures of your child at home, school, church, the playground or other areas where they can follow Jesus.  If you don’t have pictures draw your own.  Hang the poster up in their room to help them remember that they can follow Jesus everywhere they go.

Theme of the Summer: God is Faithful

Matthew 6:9-13 & Romands 12:16

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

We’re sorry this didn’t get out last week.  Illness and business trips hit our team.  So this week you get a two for one special!!

In the Preschool class the kids are continuing to learn about David and King Saul.  On the 8th the lesson focused on Safety and how David listened to God and stayed safe.  The children talked about how God sets rules that we need to follow to stay safe.  Parents also set rules the kids need to obey.  For the 15th the children talked about how God provided for David and rescued him.  This matched to the memory verse of the Lord’s Prayer “Give us today the food we need.”

In PreK & Elementary on the 8th the kids learned about Jesus calming the storm.  They talked about the shield of faith and how we need to have faith in Jesus to protect us.  For the 15th they talked about faith again.  This time they heard the story of the Canaanite woman who asked Jesus to heal her daughter.  The kids learned how to spell Faith in sign language.

Christmas in July – Update

Thank you to everyone who has already brought in donations for OCC. We will have another collection in September so watch out for some great back to school sales to stock up on supplies to help make boxes.

Last year we received a letter back from one of the children who received a box. She was overjoyed to get supplies to use in her classroom. Toys and games as well and toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap are also wonderful gifts for these children. The plastic shoeboxes you can find at stores are great not only for shipping the items in but serve as an extra gift allowing the family something to use for storage in their house. Thank you again for the support you’ve already shown. We look forward to working together to hit out goal of 45 boxes this year.

Fall Curriculum

Last weekend we met to plan out some exciting new ideas for the Fall Curriculum.  We will be writing our own Bible based curriculum for the Elementary school kids based off a new curriculum purchased for the Preschool class. We’d love to bring in some “Special Guests” on nights as a treat for the kids.  Some ideas for guests are: nurses, doctors, police or other law enforcement, members of the armed services, musicians, singers, dancers, artists, or anyone else who loves Jesus.  Please contact Katy if you’ve got any ideas to add for our new curriculum or if you’d like to be a Special Guest sometime.  Also be looking out for a meeting in September where we will go over the new curriculum in more depth for parents and treat the kids to a movie.

Watering Can: Safety First

Both classes over the weeks learned how God and Jesus protect us when we have faith in them and follow the rules.

Take this time to review some of the rules you have as a family.  Also talk about safety as a family.  Does your smoke detector work?  What is your evacuation plan if there was a fire?  Can your children recognize firemen and police officers?  Call the local fire station and ask if you can bring your children by to meet them.  Help your children understand that the rules God makes for us are because He loves us and the rules parents make for their children are the same.

Fall Curriculum Planning Meeting This Sunday

The Kids Garden is stepping out and planning on writing their own curriculum for the Fall. We hope to develop something that is Bible based, engages the children, and is easy for our volunteers. We have some ideas and themes but would love for anyone who has ideas about curriculum or activities in the classroom to join us for a planning meeting on the 8th of August at The Sheraton. This will be a brainstorming meeting starting at 9am. Lunch will be provided and we hope to wrap things up around 2pm. Childcare is not provided but breastfeeding infants are welcome. If you have any questions or dietary needs for lunch please talk to Katy Linda.
