NC Trip Update! – March 7

07MAR10

I’ve uploaded some pictures of where we are going to the FB page. Check them out!

A couple of things for you to know if you’re coming: cell phone service will be spotty and internet probably not there. Jane said there is a Starbucks in town that might get you a signal if you need it. But do you, really?

We are going to be working on the side attachment to their dairy barn. We will mostly be replacing windows, siding, and doors. They love their barn and are very excited about one day renovating the interior as a fellowship hall downstairs and awesome chapel upstairs. We also will be doing our fair share of priming, caulking, and painting.

Here is a list of things to bring if you have them:

  • hammer
  • crow bar
  • small “wonder” bar
  • gloves
  • apron or nail bag
  • speed square
  • tape measure
  • caulk gun
  • 3″ paint brush
  • personal water bottle

If you don’t know what some of these tools are, then you have some homework to do, don’t you?!

Since this awesome family will be putting us all up and feeding us, we need to give them a good final number by March 19th so they can make the proper preparations. Jane has also asked us to give her an idea of what we like to eat! Pretty cool, huh? Shoot me an email with a couple of things you would be interested in having, or more importantly, if there is anything you particularly don’t like or may be allergic to.

They are thrilled that we are coming to be a part of building the Longview Retreat! They pray that GOD will restore, refresh, and renew many marriages and families there. That is their heart for this ministry!

I am excited to get to help!

Spring Break 2010 Mission Trip Update

We have a location!!  God has opened the door for us with some workers needed just across the VA/NC state line.  Through some connections with Habitat for Humanity, we were hooked up with a couple that own a plantation dating back 6 generations to the 1700′s!  They have a vision of converting their old barn and some of the other buildings on their property into a Christian Retreat Center.

They are near Roanoke Rapids, NC which is about 3.5 hours away from Columbia, MD.  We will be heading down there the morning of April 5th and returning the following Sunday.  They have several needs including painting, drywall, siding, sorting wood, and demolition work just to name a few.  Pray for other opportunities to serve the community since the local schools will probably be on break that week as well.

If this interests you and you are are available this week, then please consider joining us as we show Christ’s love by giving what we can away in an attempt to glorify the Son.  Click the link below and fill in the registration info.  I will be available to answer any questions if you have any.

God has blessed you!
