Fusion Fellowship Spring Break Mission Trip

Seemingly fit with Tim’s message last night of not getting too comfortable in what God is asking us to do, we are planning a short-term mission trip in early April for anyone who feels led to serve.

The tentative dates are April 5th to the 11th (HCCC’s spring break).  Many details are still up in the air and we are confident God will “connect the dots” for us.  We are looking at a couple of options right now, including West Virginia and North Carolina.  More than likely it will be some sort of construction project or working party, but the key to any trip like this is to BE FLEXIBLE.

We are looking for volunteers to help in organizing and serving in any capacity, remember, you don’t need to go to help.  We covet your prayers.  Several people have already shown interest and there will be more information out on this website as soon as it becomes available.  God loves us all.

If you have any questions or would like to help us out by letting us know who’s interested contact:

MetroKidz Needs Your Help This Christmas!

Picture 3Are you looking for some ways that you can serve this holiday season? MetroKidz is looking for a few good volunteers. Maybe you can’t make a weekly commitment, maybe you’re not comfortable traveling into Baltimore or maybe you’d just like to check us out and see what we’re all about?  If that’s the case there are many way to get involved with us this month!

Ways you can serve this month:

  • December 12th: 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Help Portrait, do you love photography, mingling with people or baking? If so do we have an opportunity for you? We’re hosting a photo event to top all photo events, a few local photographers and make-up artists are giving up their time to serve the community. They’ll be taking photos and hanging out for a few hours. We need some people who are willing to come and mingle, help organize people, set-up and tear down and help serve cookies and hot chocolate. Not a people person, never fear, we also need volunteers to bake cookies, and donate hot chocolate for this event.
  • christmasgiftsDecember 10th/14th (tenative): We need a few good wrappers, to help wrap at least 500 gifts. We’ll be wrapping gifts and sorting them so they can be handed out to the hundreds of children we’ll reach at our Annual Operation Christmas Kidz party on December 16th! We also need wrapping paper and tape donations!
  • December 15th: MetroTeenz Christmas Party we’ll be celebrating Christmas with our teenagers this night, come hang out with some of the coolest kids on the block! Pastor Mike will be sharing with the teenagers, we’ll also serve them some Christmas Goodies and they’ll each leave with a gift. Not only do we need people to come love on some kids, we also need baked goodies, candy canes and hot chocolate for this event.
  • guitarsantaDecember 16th: Operation Christmas Kidz annual Christmas Party! This is a night where hundreds (literally!) of kids join us to Celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ mail man (Santa) pays a visit, the Christmas Story is shared and the kids are entertained by Pastor Mike. This night we also serve Christmas Goodies to the kids, and each child leaves with a gift. We’re looking for some awesome servants who want to come love on some kids, corral the crowds or help serve snacks! If you can’t make it, please consider donating some cookies or candy!

If you’re interested in any or all of these events please contact Colleen Smith by email colleen@metrokidzbaltimore.org or at FusionCP

Operation Christmas Child

christmasboxOperation Christmas Child delivers millions of gift-filled shoe boxes to needy children around the world. The Fusion Kidz Garden will be participating in Operation Christmas Child this year. We’d like to set a challenge for Fusion Fellowship of completing 1 box per child in our church, that’s 28 boxes. This is not limited to Children’s Ministry, but collection and drop-off will be coordinated by us. Please help us spread the word to everyone in the church.

How It Works

  • Bring in any of the following items – small toys (cars, yo-yos, jump ropes) school supplies (crayons, markers, stamps) hygiene items (tooth brushes, toothpaste, combs) other items such as candy, t-shirts, baseball hats, toy jewelry, sunglasses, even pictures of your family or drawings made by your kids. Empty shoe boxes (cardboard or plastic) are also needed.
  • We’ll wrap and pack up the shoe boxes and deliver them to a collection center. There is a $7 cost to ship each box so donations of money to cover shipping are also appreciated.
  • You can also donate money for us to use to purchase toys.

We’ll be collecting items and money for the next two Sundays, ending November 15th.

You can find more detailed information on the Samariatan’s PurseWebsite.

(Another) Grace Adventure Day Camp Fundraiser

grace_adventures_logo_bwOn July 22nd, from 4—9 pm, Grace Adventures is once again eating Chick-Fil-A and raising money for our scholarship fund. How does eating equate to money? Well, you eat and Chick-Fil-A gives us 20% of the proceeds. It just sounds too easy, doesn’t it.

Consider joining us at the Chick-Fil-A on John Hopkins Rd in Fulton, MD. All you have to do is eat. No checks to write (though we’ll take them either for camp registration or camper sponsorship) or silent auctions to bid on. Just a yummy meal, a few good friends, and maybe a cow sighting or two.

Find out more about our mission on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and tell your friends about GraceAdventsuresCamp.org. You can also e-mail Hillary Pennington for more information.

Louisiana Mission Trip ’09 – RECAP

Many thanks to all those who supported us earlier this year, financially, organizationally, and through your prayers.  We had an amazing mission trip to Louisiana.  A small church, Slidell Central Baptist, is on the road to becoming a hub for mission work.  They allowed us to stay in an empty office area and the teen room (foosball!) while we served their neighbors at North Shore Church.  We saw real progress on the new church facility while we worked there.

But at least as special was the chance to serve our hosts.  Their nursery was in the middle of a remodeling job – the carpet had been stripped – when they lost their maintenance volunteers.  We got to rip out old, rotten, water damaged cabinets.  The girls noticed there was no floor in the kitchen.  Without asking, they went to the hardware store, picked up exactly what they needed, and dropped down a new wood laminate floor.  This task was crucial, as Central Baptist had cabinets on hand to install in the nursery kitchen.  Roger, the foreman at the larger job, showed us how (ok, so he did most of the work) to correctly drop the new sink into the counter top without breaking anything, and we managed to get the cabinets installed at the smaller site.

Robbie James, the pastor of Central Baptist, had informed us the teens would be using the teen room on Wednesday.  We asked if we could hang around, and Robbie was quite pleased with that idea.  We had the opportunity to lead worship and a bible study with the teens.  After, one commented he had never thought that hard about “this stuff!”

Along the way, we managed to partake of a huge crawfish broil, have a cookout by the lake,  consume countless filets at all-you-can-eat catfish night, and partake of the southern ice cream delicacy Blue Bell.  After a week of hard work, we might have set a new restaurant record for catfish consumed.  All in all, we had an amazing, blessed, and safe trip!

Special thanks to Joe Bianco, Robbie James, Lane Corley, Jay Victory, Shaun Wilson, and everyone else I have forgotten to mention!
