American Cancer Society Relay For Life – Catonsville

Update: Congrats on raising nearly $1500 for ACS!

The American Cancer Society – Relay for Life, Catonsville, is June 11th, 2011. Come represent Fusion Fellowship Church! If you’ve never done this before, Relay for Life is an ACS fundraiser. Participants raise donations before the event. The Relay is an all-night gala, done in shifts (6pm-6am). No, you don’t have to run. Yes, we will have canopies and, with any luck, a fantastic time.

Why participate?

  • This is a great opportunity for us to raise money for a good cause.
  • Participation in Catonsville Relay for Life allows FFC to be a part of our community. There is no telling what opportunities we might get. Think of all the strangers you might bump into, the stories you might hear. When you ask why someone else is there, you’ll hear stories about cancer survival, cancer loss. You’ll meet other folks in the community and, who knows, they might just ask you why you are participating!
  • Relay for Life is an event which lends itself to a wide range of our church-goers – single, married, and married with kids! We will have several canopies and can schedule a couple of evening shifts for fun/games/picnic/etc.

“Oh, it’s that Relay for Life thing. That’s not for me.” Actually, it IS for you. Yes, cancer does touch us all. But we have an opportunity to strengthen our church, our sense of community. Join your fellow Fusion church attendees at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville (CCBC). Hope to see you there!

Date: June 11 @ 6:00pm -> June 12 @ 6:00am.

Help Portrait – December 4th

Help Portrait - December 4, 2010Charm City Church of Baltimore is hosting Help Portrait again this year. Help Portrait is a global movement of photographers who use their time, gear, and expertise to provide portraits to those in need.

At Charm City Church in inner-city Baltimore, professional (and well equipped hobbyist) photographers will take quality photos and editors will perform rudimentary touch-ups (training provided) and print the pictures. We would like to have a makeup artist on hand. A small army of hosts will be needed to greet, direct, feed, and converse with the guests. The coordinators suspect ~30 volunteers will be needed in addition to the photographers.

Where might you fit in?

We need greeters and hosts, food preparers and servers, and a handful of people just to talk to the guests, if that is your thing. In addition, if you have a laptop, you can be a photo editor. Are you a photographer? A makeup artist? If you are interested in participating, please email missions@fusionfellowship.org.

Mike Stog has put together a flier for us. A copy of Mike’s flier can be found here.

Have items to donate and can’t make it? If you have items to donate and can not make it on Saturday, please email us (kids@fusionfellowship.org) or get in touch with a Children’s Ministry team member!

Is your child a scout??? – Please let us know and we will get a patch to present to your child for helping out with Operation Chirstmas Child.

Theme of the Week: The Bible tells me stories about God

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

This Sunday the children heard the story of God taking care of the Israelites in the desert.  God provided manna each day for they would have food.  He always provided exactly how much they needed so everyone would be taken care of and no one had too much.

Talk to your child about how God cares for us like he did for the Israelites.  What kind of things does he give us each day to take care of us?  How can we show God we are thankful?

Halloween Service

Fusion will hold its service on October 31st at 11am.  The leadership team hopes this allows the members of the church to be home in their neighborhoods that evening.  This evening presents a wonderful opportunity to spend time in your neighborhood meeting and greeting your neighbors.  We hope everyone has a safe and fun evening and makes some new friends as well.

Welcome To The Garden

Kidz Garden Newsletter 1/19/2010

Your little ones are like seeds, ready to grow and become beautiful plants. All they need is some good soil, water, and of course sun. Your family provides the soil for their little roots to take hold in. We hope to work with you to provide water, the Word of God, to nourish them and help them feel the light of the Son.

Happy Birthday

Bible Truth: The Bible tells me stories about God

Memory Verse: Every word of God is perfect. Proverbs 30:5

Scripture Reference: Jonah 1-2

Bible Story: This week, take the lead in teaching your child the story of Jonah running away from God because he didn’t want to obey.  Read Jonah 1-2 in your own Bible before telling the story to your child from a children’s Bible.  Discuss how we cannot hide from God, because God is always with us.  Jonah disobeyed God, but God protected him inside the fish until Jonah had a change of heart.  God was patient with Jonah, just like he was patient with the people of Nineveh.  God’s way is always the best way.

Family Activity – Fishy Fishy: Discuss with your child how Jonah learned to obey God while he was in the fish, although it would have been better for him if he had obeyed right away.  Create simple fish shapes on a piece of paper, have your child color them, then cut the out.  Every time your child obeys you during the week, place a fish on your refrigerator (or a premade chart).  Set a goal for a certain number of fish to put up, the reward your child at the end of the week if that goal is attained.

Theme of the Week: The Bible is God’s Word

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

Our second week with the Boz curriculum was a great time once again.  Please make sure you get your child’s bag each week so you have their crafts, the homelink, and any other announcements from us.

The Bible story this week was Nehemiah 8:1-18.  This is the story of Ezra finding the Book of Law and sharing it with people.  Everyone listened to Ezra and celebrated God for seven days.  How often does your family have a party to celebrate the Bible and the wonderful things it teaches us about God?

If your child is in the Elementary class and has their own Bible we encourage them to bring it with them on Sunday.  We will be reading out of the Bible each week and learning how to find passages in the Bible.

Bible Truth: The Bible tells me stories about God

Memory Verse: Every word of God is perfect. Proverbs 30:5

Scripture Reference: Exodus 16:1-32

Bible Story: This week, take the lead in teaching your child about how God provided for the Israelites in the desert.  Read Exodus 16:1-31 in a Bible before sharing the story with your child.  The Israelites had no food.  God sent manna every morning to feed them, so they would know he was caring for them.  God gave them just enough for each day so they would continue depending on Him.  The Bible tells us stories like this about God so we can learn about the awesome God we serve.

Family Activity – Manna in the Morning: Sprinkle cotton balls on the floor of your child’s bedroom and leave a small bowl nearby.  Each cotton ball represents one piece of manna.  Some morning this week, have your child gather one cotton ball for each meal and snack time of that day.  Have your child give you one piece of “Manna” in exchange for each meal or snack.  By the end of the day, all the manna should gone.  Remind your child that God meets our needs one day at a time.
