Love : As Strong as Death

We as a church want to be proactive into investing into marriages both existing and future.  The words from Song of Solomon 8:6 shout out of a fully consumed heart for her husband, we feel they also paint a passionate picture that raises the bar of God’s desire for this covenant agreement we call marriage.  We will be taking on key components of marriage (friendship, commitment, and intimacy) to bring God’s Truths and practical teaching to these areas.

Jesus gave the church a huge challenge in John 13 when he told his disciples the world is watching how they love and care for each other.  It is not a matter of IF there will be tension in the church but WHEN — how we react to each other matters to Him.  What guidelines should we follow, how can we prepare, and what behaviors should we expect are all laid out in Scripture for us. This Sunday we’ll be talking about the relationships it takes to save the church, because we are all capable of not loving those around us.

R Rated Church – 1/15/2012

In John 14:6 Jesus proclaims, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” In an age where “tolerance” is the highest virtue, this message can be relationally (or occupationally) hazardous. But if it is true, not sharing is cruel. How can we help our friends realize they’re lost without feeling judged by us? How can we discuss the claims of Christ with others in a way that it builds our relationship rather than ends it?

R Rated Church – 1/8/2012

When Jesus was asked what was the most important commandment, his answer was first your Relationship with your Heavenly Father and then your Relationship with those who are around you.  He must have been thinking about ‘strong-growing-passionate-intimate-loving-serving-submitting-and-putting-others-interests-above-your-own’ kind of Relationships.  This series will make us ask hard questions about our Relationship with God and also with those around us.

So the “R” stands for Relationships and FFC wants to be a church that fosters healthy growing relationships.  So, yes, as a church we want an “R” rating!

It is for sure not Christmas until this song is sung, it is for sure a Christmas Classic.  Many don’t realize that it is based on Psalm 98 and Watt wrote this into a hymn to have us look forward to Christ’s second coming.  Some words have been changed and we sing this song now to celebrate Christ’s first coming.  I just wonder how loud it will be when “all the Earth sings out, all the rivers and hills, Joy has come to the world.

Latitudes to Debt Reduction is an attempt to highlight the things in our lives that cause debt, not only in money, but in time, energy, and resources. We then look at the scriptures to answer the question “so now what?”
