What: Help out Captivate Church
When: Wednesday, Feb 15th (the day AFTER valentine’s), afternoon until late.
Where: 400 N Luzerne Ave, Baltimore, MD 21224

For hundreds of years, western cultures have used “Valentine’s Day” to celebrate romantic love, or mourn the lack there-of. But of the Saints who bore the name Valentine, none are remembered for championing romnatic love. The earliest records of the first St. Valentine suggest a far different story, one of unconditional trust, hope, and faith Jesus Christ.

This year, Fusion will be helping Captivate Church’s South campus for a Valentine’s Day (actually the day after) dinner for the kids and parents in their community. If you are interested in setting up, preparing food, or actually serving during the dinner, email missions@fusionfellowship.org.

Jesus gave the church a huge challenge in John 13 when he told his disciples the world is watching how they love and care for each other. It is not a matter of IF there will be tension in the church but WHEN — how we react to each other matters to Him. What guidelines should we follow, how can we prepare, and what behaviors should we expect are all laid out in Scripture for us. This Sunday we’ll be talking about the relationships it takes to save the church, because we are all capable of not loving those around us.

In John 14:6 Jesus proclaims, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” In an age where “tolerance” is the highest virtue, this message can be relationally (or occupationally) hazardous. But if it is true, not sharing is cruel. How can we help our friends realize they’re lost without feeling judged by us? How can we discuss the claims of Christ with others in a way that it builds our relationship rather than ends it?

When Jesus was asked what was the most important commandment, his answer was first your Relationship with your Heavenly Father and then your Relationship with those who are around you. He must have been thinking about ‘strong-growing-passionate-intimate-loving-serving-submitting-and-putting-others-interests-above-your-own’ kind of Relationships. This series will make us ask hard questions about our Relationship with God and also with those around us.

So the “R” stands for Relationships and FFC wants to be a church that fosters healthy growing relationships. So, yes, as a church we want an “R” rating!
