Kidz Garden Newsletter – 1/19/2010

Theme of the Week:

God is perfect, so we stand up for Him.

Esther 2:16-20; 4:7-17; 7:1-8; 9:1

Welcome to the Fusion Kidz Garden Newsletter

On Sunday the kids heard the story of Queen Esther and how she stood up to Haman and protected God’s people.  Queen Esther was scared to go to the King but after praying she knew it was the right thing to do.  Sometimes it can be hard to stand up for God and do the right thing, but God asks us to.  Talk to your child about times when it can be hard to do the right thing and stand up for God.  You can use age appropriate situations such as a friend wants them to lie for them or everyone in their class is picking on another student.  God calls us to tell the truth and love everyone, but it’s not always easy.  We need to be strong like Queen Esther and stand up for Him.

This was our last week using the “Surprising Superheroes” session of the Buzz curriculum.   Review with your child some of the superheroes they’ve learned about and the awesome things they did.  Peter, the Good Samaritan, Moses, Saul, Gideon, Mary, and Queen Esther were just a few of the Surprising Superheroes we learned about.   Check out the “Looking ahead” section for more information about what’s coming in the next 3 months.

Watering Can:  Worship Prayer

Stars

Esther’s name means “star”.  This worship prayer can help your child remember what they are thankful for and why they should stand up for God

Oh, God, you made the starry sky. (Flick fingers in air like twinkling stars)
You made the mighty sea. (Wave arms like ocean waves)
You took care of your people (spread arms wide)
And you take care of me. (Hug yourself)

Thank you, God, for the starry sky (Flick fingers in air like twinkling stars)
And for the mighty sea. (Wave arms like ocean waves)
Thanks for loving  your people (spread arms wide),
And thanks for loving me. (Hug yourself)

If you haven’t gotten your cards yet or can’t find this week’s here is a summary of this week’s card:

This week, your child learned about Esther, a woman whom God used to save the Jews.

Set the Smile Ball on a table so it’s standing up.  Then have one family member hold the Smile Ball in place while other family members try to knock it down.

Ask:

  • What does it mean to stand up for God?
  • In our game, someone tried to knock down the Smile Ball.  What are some things that can try to stop us from standing up for God?
  • What helped our Smile Ball stand up?
  • What are some things that can help you stand up for God?

Remind each other that God is perfect, so we stand up for Him

Welcome To The Garden

Kidz Garden Newsletter – 1/19/2010

Your little ones are like seeds, ready to grow and become beautiful plants. All they need is some good soil, water, and of course sun. Your family provides the soil for their little roots to take hold in. We hope to work with you to provide water, the Word of God, to nourish them and help them feel the light of the Son.

Happy Birthday

Looking Ahead

Next Sunday’s lesson begins a new curriculum block called “Ballihoo”.  For this block the children will solve mysteries while learning about how God is Forgiving.  New for this quarter we will be teaching the children in the toddler class and older a monthly memory verse.  We will also be spending more time on worship and letting the kids experience God’s love that way.  Please make sure to pick up your new “Buzz at Home” kit.  Also let us know if you would like a copy of the kids worship CD.  This CD will contain music we use during the lesson, songs to help learn the memory verses, and other worship tracks we’ll be listening to.
