What are the ages for the classrooms?
- We currently have 5 classrooms for the Kidz Garden. The classrooms are:
- Infant: 6 weeks old – walking
- Toddlers: walking – 2 years old
- Preschool: 2 years old – 3 years old
- Pre-K-1st: 4 years old – 1st grade
- Elementary: 2nd grade -5th grade
In most cases your child will stay in the same class all year. Move up is done the first Sunday of September and is based on the child’s age or school enrollment as of September 1st. Any questions or concerns over your child’s placement in a classroom can be addressed with a coordinator. We want all the children to be safe and in an environment where they can best grow. The transition from infant to toddler is based on your child’s development.
What is your mission?
Glorifying God by building a safe community where kids, parents and volunteers can go one step further.
How did you pick the name?
The ministry team was inspired by the mission statement about going one step further and promoting growth in the children, their families, and our volunteers. At the time we were Fusion Church Plant and so the Kidz Garden was born as a play on the word plant. We believe that your little ones are like seeds, ready to grow and become beautiful plants. All they need is some good soil, water, and of course sun. Your family provides the soil for their little roots to take hold in. We hope to work with you to provide water, the Word of God, to nourish them and help them feel the light of the Son.
What safety measures do you use?
The safety and security of the children are one of our top priorities. We use a name tag system with coordinating family numbers to ensure children and picked up by their parents. We use gates to block the doorways so children can only exit with adult assistance. All volunteers fill out a detailed application and meet with a coordinator so we get to know them before they begin volunteering. We also perform background checks on all of our volunteers.
What happens if the hotel was evacuated?
In the event of an evacuation please exit with the rest of the congregation. The Kidz Garden volunteers will take care of getting your children out of the building. All children must stay with the Kidz Garden; however parents are welcome to come sit with the classes if they choose.
Do you have a program for middle schoolers or teen agers?
At this time there is no class or program for children over 5th grade. However we do allow children in 6th grade and up to apply to be a classroom helper. They will be given a schedule and placed in a classroom to assist with the lesson including teaching the younger kids about worship, leading group activities, sharing stories about how God has helped them, and guiding prayer time.
What is the check-in & check-out procedure?
The classrooms open at 4:50 for check-in. Please do not let your child play in the classrooms before that time. For their safety and to give our volunteers time to prepare for the night we ask that the children not enter until we open the doors.
If you are a new family please stop at the visitor table to fill out a Fusion Kids Family Information Form or print one and bring it with you. Once we have your completed form we will give each parent and child a name tag with their name and family/visitor number.
If your family has made Fusion their home church and you’ve requested permanent tags please pick up your family tags at the check-in table.
All children must have name tags before they can be dropped off in a classroom. Even after the volunteers get to know your family, your child must be tagged every week. If your child is still in diapers please leave a diaper bag labeled with the child’s name. Masking tape is available at both check-in locations. We do not have a stocked diapering station so please leave diapers for your child.
Escort your child to their classroom where one of our volunteers will greet you and check your child into the classroom. Please do not let your child bring any toys from home into the classroom. They might get lost or broken.
When service is over, return to your child’s classroom. Show one of the volunteers your tag and they will get your child and any crafts they might have made that week. Once you’ve picked up all your children please leave all of your tags in the last classroom you visit. We ask that all children be picked up by 6:45. Please do not let your child back into the classrooms once you’ve picked them up. Once again, this is for their safety and to allow the volunteers to begin cleaning and packing up the rooms.
How can I help?
The Kidz Garden welcomes new volunteers. We have a flexible schedule to allow you to serve but still attend service. We allow families to serve together if they would like. For more information please contact Katy. You can find the volunteer application form and background check from on our Volunteer Information Page.
We also have a vision team which serves our ministry through prayer and occasionally helping with other projects. The vision team meets once a month to pray for the ministry and the leadership team. They also help to ensure we are following God’s path and staying in line with our mission. Occasionally vision team members assist with planning special events or outreach projects. If you would like more information on the vision team please contact Hillary.
What if my child needs to use the restroom or have their diaper changed?
All children in the Kidz Garden Nursery will have their diaper checked and changed, if needed, during service. For the Preschool and up classes please review the information for that classroom for specific information. In general, all children will have the opportunity to use the restroom or have their diaper changed during service. No child will ever be taken to the restroom alone with an adult. No child will ever go into a restroom if other adults, even members of the church, are in the restroom.
